Tennessee born and Southern bred, Country Music recording artist, JD Leonard presents a diverse perspective on uniquely American music. From artists to audiences alike, Leonard’s music is in high demand. JD began cutting his teeth as a kid in church, appearing on TV and radio commercials by the age of 4, and began playing shows at 14. He spent the next decade honing the craft of writing, recording and performing live. After moving to NY, Leonard began working with some of the industry’s biggest writers, producers and players…and in 2009, he released his first solo record, “Is It Just Me.” In 2011, his timeless approach to modern songwriting caught the attention of multi-platinum recording artist and industry icon, Bonnie Tyler. For the next two years, Leonard was instrumental in the reintroduction of Bonnie Tyler to the Nashville music scene. In March of 2013, Warner Brothers and ZYX Records released Bonnie Tyler’s highly anticipated album, “Rocks and Honey.” This album, produced by David Huff, is a collection of brand new material and features “Love is the Knife,” a song co-penned by JD Leonard.

As a multi-talented artist, JD Leonard’s performances capture the listener with relatable emotion and raw truth. His penetrating guitar playing weaves between lyrics that punctuate the human experience. His songs are a conscious head-nod to the varied elements of popular music. Highly sought after, JD has written with some of music’s biggest names. His current projects include collaborations with Grammy nominated Richie Cannata (Billy Joel), Grammy nominated Jim Sells (True Vibe), Grammy nominated Paul Soroski (producer/engineer), multi-platinum writer, Francis Galluccio (Celine Dion), several up-and-coming artists and legendary Nashville producer, David Huff.

With a strong identity and “real world” perspective, Leonard’s library seamlessly crosses genres, enabling him to write for artists of any type.
